Firefighters tackle blaze in commercial premises in Thornton-Cleveleys

Crews from three fire stations spend two hours putting out fire in Victoria Road West

Crews from three fire stations in Lancashire spent around two hours fighting a blaze that broke out in commercial premises in Thornton-Cleveleys.

The Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service crews from Fleetwood, Bispham and Blackpool fire stations extinguished the fire in the commercial premises in Victoria Road West, Thornton-Cleveleys, using one hose reel and two breathing apparatus. The fire started late afternoon yesterday (August 8) but was under control by early evening, with no reports of casualties.

Victoria Road West is the main street running through Thornton-Cleveleys, and traffic was diverted while the fire crews were operational.

Less than two weeks ago, a man died in a devastating fire which ripped through two houses in Thornton Cleveleys. The man, in his 50s, was rescued from a property in Gorse Avenue by firefighters but could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the property. Firefighters from Fleetwood, Bispham, Blackpool, South Shore and St Annes, plus an aerial ladder platform from Preston, attended that fire.
