A spokesperson for National Highways said: “The M61 in Greater Manchester is closed northbound between J2 and J4 (M60/ A666) near Bolton due to a serious collision.
“National Highways Traffic Officers are in attendance assisting with traffic management.
“Traffic caught within the closures are in the process of being released.”
